project accomplished: full shorts

Here they are, the full shorts I blogged about a few weeks ago: loose, pleated, knee length tailored shorts in a fine navy plaid.  Though I may not be a hundred percent happy with the way they look, boy are they airy and comfortable!  Dare I say they're almost like a kilt with legs?

vintage bowler hat, Kaiser long-sleeved tee, Comme des Garcons belt, tailor-made shorts, penny loafers from Don Quijote

I like them...I love plaid shorts. Not enough of them out there...almost impossible to buy for women.

I wanted to ask you if you can post something at a later point about how to instruct tailors to have the very best results. My experience with tailors creating things from scratch are limited so anything would help!

brook: That's a great idea. I will post that one of these days. :)

Wrong in so many levels.
You need to find a better fabric - something just a wee bit more structured.
I hate how the proportions of your clothes are always...well...wrong.
You have a great sense of style with very bad fitting judgement.

Thanks for the critique, anonymous. You always give sound advice. I was actually thinking I should have gone the other way and used an even less-structured fabric, with a longer length, much like this one I posted: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_l_HuGQu9G6Q/SWYU2-eNIBI/AAAAAAAAA0U/Rbmjq92pHqE/s1600-h/full+shorts.jpg And maybe next time you might want to consider not commenting as anonymous anymore? :)

you should just dress to please yourself and not worry about what others think. dressing ought to be about US and our identities and what we like. it shouldn't be about pleasing others and kowtowing to what they think of us.

a different: Thanks for that, I'm a staunch believer in dressing to please yourself too. However, one of the reasons I blog is also to receive constructive feedback so I know what to improve on :)

I think you're pretty style proficient already and you know a lot about clothes, fit, construction etc. We can't please everyone and have everyone like what we wear or like our style. You must NEVER walk, talk, dress, behave or think in a certain way and betray yourself just because someone else thinks it's better for you to do otherwise. KEEP BELIEVING in yourself and stay true to yourself. That's certainly my mantra and how I live my life...

I'm too lazy to create an account.
Ugh. Could not be bothered.

No to less structured fabric for a pair of shorts that length. It might look like kulots (sp?). Ha!

Keep doing what you're doing, love.
You have great style.

i would suggest a more structured fabric, too. the creasing on the crotch and inseam are noticeable. and it's not as stiff as it should, well, for my taste anyway. a nice grade of cotton twill would be nice i guess but not really as formal as what you've used. ;)
