Current Obsession: The Kooples

photo from notcot

I first learned about French label The Kooples from The Search For Chic when she blogged about her sublime beige suede ankle boots that she got from there on a recent trip to Paris.  Hoping to find a men's version of those boots, I googled the store and was stoked to find them.  Just like that, I became a fan.

Touted by The Skeleton Legs as a hybrid of American Apparel and APC, that only spells The Kooples as double goodness to me.  It's pure French nonchalance with a hint of London dandy rocker: quality, quiet yet subversive pieces that you'd want to wear over and over.

This cardigan with epaulettes and a built-in scarf is unlike anything I've seen before.

And so are these black skinny cargo pants, just perfect.

I have yet to learn to wear a proper printed silk scarf, and this double scarf in silk and cashmere seems like the best way to get started.

Pocket square on a t-shirt, something new to try.

And the main object of my obsession, the beige suede boots!  Santiags, I think, is what they're called over there.  See how great they look against dark denim.

I can not not get them on my impending trip.
My dearest Parisian readers, or those Parisians at heart, any other must-visit shops in Paris you would like to recommend?  Do share via comments, it shall be appreciated muchly.  Thanks!

Hey, I'm a parisian and I just love the Kooples : I bought my military coat there and it is awsome. When I shop in Paris, I mainly go in that store and also in vintage shops. To sum up, the best shop in Paris are in the "Etienne Marcel" neighbourhood. Unfortunately, I guess none of those store have their own website...

Hello darling!

I can see you in so much of this stuff. ;) I hope you manage to find the boots when you are there, the beige suede seems so fresh right now.

And getting a list for London--I am not big on men's shopping, but you prob already know about Dover street Market and the cafe upstairs which you must visit..go to Harrods-Ladurée for macaroons.. Liberty just to take in the atmosphere..go for afternoon tea at http://www.thewolseley.com/ you don't get more traditional than that!

The shop at bluebird is pretty unique http://www.urbanpath.com/london/designers/shop-at-bluebird.htm and the atmosphere around there is 'civillised'

for cool books et al magma: http://www.urbanpath.com/london/books/magma.htm

You should also check out the markets around Brick Lane and Shoreditch..you don't get anymore London than that if that is a good thing..not so sure. ;)
I hope you have an amazing time.

I also remembered that you should check out COS, it's the best when it comes to high street they have some really cute stuff, great to stock up on basics.. it has not been as good as it used to be lately but..

Also Browns for men's on South Molton street. After you have browsed inside go down the street and there are two coffee shops that are amazing for people-watching..sitting outside.. is such a great spot. =)
Down that street street they also have Browns LABELS FOR LESS, just past season merchandise a great selection.
I will write more as it springs to mind.. ;) I am SO jealous that you're are going to Paris. =D The food... do you eat foie gras?

that shop looks bliss. am investigating for my next paris trip - the layering is pretty delicious. also colette (ovvo) and the APC/Paul & Joe shops are good. I always end up at the boutiques in the marais quite a lot. Maria Luisa just behind Colette is quite special too. Top tip is the stock shops around the 14e; 80% off what is usually the maddest (ie best) stuff they have left over. Also you're not allowed to leave Paris without at least one jumper from Sonia Rykiel. FACT. xS

I bought a few pieces the last time I was in Paris. The jewellery collection isn't bad either!
